The People’s Palace is a uniquely designed heritage building and former temperance hotel. Built in 1911, and located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, the building now operates as a backpackers hostel with a bar and specialty realty. Following the detection of water ingress and mould in numerous areas of the People’s Palace, Emacen was engaged to manage the site’s rectification works. Works were carried out within a live operational environment, demanding strict precautions and safe work procedures to ensure the safety of all stakeholders against the serious health hazard of mould. Emacen worked collaboratively with the project team delivering the rectification works. This required regular communication with key stakeholders on progress reports, coordination of site activities to ensure all works were effectively delivered in conjunction with the site’s regular operations, and identification of issues and updates to plan work status. Emacen successfully delivered the project in March 2022 on time and budget.
